Watch LCD Soundsystem Play the 'Twin Peaks' Theme in Tribute to Angelo Badalamenti
James Murphy and co. honoured the late composer at Brooklyn Steel
Published Dec 15, 2022Legendary composer Angelo Badalamenti — the mind behind the iconic music of Twin Peaks, among a whole bunch of other beautiful work — died earlier this week at 85.
Tributes poured in from all corners of the arts and entertainment world (plus from fans who had their lives changed by Badalamenti's haunting contributions to the sound of popular culture) and now LCD Soundsystem have offered their own tribute with a live performance of Badalamenti's instrumental Twin Peaks theme, otherwise known as Julee Cruise's "Falling."
The band played the song during the latest show of their Brooklyn Steel residency, slotting it into the middle of "New York I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down." The band had previously played the mashup more than a decade ago at their "last" (psych) Madison Square Garden show, which was captured in the concert film Shut Up and Play the Hits.
