Watch Jack Black and a Bunch of Kids Cover David Bowie's "Suffragette City"
The song was recorded in celebration of San Francisco's Blue Bear School of Music's 50th anniversary
Published Nov 10, 2021If your interests encompass some combination of David Bowie, Jack Black, and PS22/Kidz Bop and you could use a four-minute respite from the world, here's just the thing.
Jack Black and a bunch of talented kid musicians have come together to celebrate the real-deal School of Rock — San Francisco's non-profit Blue Bear School of Music — with a cover of David Bowie's "Suffragette City."
The cover comes attached to a COVID-safe video of everyone performing their parts individually, with Black in the middle giving it his typically-high-energy best.
The song was put together to celebrate the music school's 50th anniversary. Opened in 1971 by a local San Fran band called Wolfgang & Strauss, Blue Bear School of Music has taught over 40,000 students with its series of paid and free music classes.
The school is also running an auction in commemoration of its 50th year, raffling off stuff like old Fillmore gig posters, private music consultations with Bonnie Hayes and Don Was, and VIP tickets to upcoming concerts by Metallica, Steve Earle and Primus.
